TUREBE is an Innovative Business Group, therefore it comprises a group of private or public companies, institutions and business associations, with links to the tourism sector and which have the drive to collaborate in a series of initiatives designed to promote innovation. TUREBE is a group of technological innovation (AEI) for the sustainable development andinnovation of Spanish ecotourism destinations (Biosphere Reserves, National & Natural Parks, Geoparks, Natural 2000 Network, etc.). Creation of TUREBE TUREBE is registered with the Ministry as an Innovative Business Group (Agrupación Empresarial Innovadora – AEI). This cluster was founded on May 2010 after a participative process designed to elaborate the cluster’s Strategic Planning for 2010-2013. More than 39 entities participated during the process and 20 were the founding partners:
- 4 Biosphere Reserves
- 1 Regional Government
- 5 Business Associations of tourism
- 3 innovation entities
- 7 companies focus on tourism and/or innovation
TUREBE was created to provide innovative and sustainable solutions for Natural Protected Areas and tourism business of these areas. The main purpose of the cluster is to promote ecotourism through innovative and collaborative experiences with sustainability criteria in Spain.
Year 2012 – 2013 Pilot project aims to design a new and attractive system for responsible tourists to enjoy an exclusive ecotourism experience, through the visit of fascinating nature conservation actions. Visitors can support these actions thought “payback” the process of asking visitors to a destination to voluntarily support management and conservation of the area, by donating a ‘nominal’ sum towards its upkeep. These systems collect funds from visitors and companies linked with the ecotourism experience and they are used to increase the customers’ loyalty.
Marine Stewardship and Biodiversity
Year 2011 – 2012 This project is focus on creation of pro-biodiversity products. More than 120 entrepreneurs have been trained during workshops and practices like a diving session or a demo in a catamaran.
Year 2011-2012 The “interactive communication point” is a technology which allows downloading information to any mobile device. Information about routes and interpretative pathways is available now for visitors of Monfragüe Biosphere Reserve. The point integrates any available graphic information (GIS, text, narrations, images, animations, videos…) in the same graphic desktop: attractive, visual and easy to understand.
Year 2010 – 2011 www.icairn.org is a new way to access the TOURISM & NATURE information: a platform 3.0. for users of mobile devices with GPS to reach a specific location and to automatically receive contents (text, audio, photo, video) to enhance and improve their Ecotourism experiences. The mobile app is available for download at App Store and Android Market. It allows to Know everything about the surroundings (peaks, forests, rivers, villages) while you are watching them, and to learn about ecosystems wherever you go.
