The ZEC Dunas del Puntal and Miera Estuary is located on the coast of Cantabria, covering areas of the municipalities of Marina de Cudeyo and Ribamontán al Mar.This unique environment includes the dunes of El Puntal in Somo-Loredo, the mouth of the Miera river in the Cubas river and the islands of Mouro and Santa Marina.
This area, part of the Red Natura 2000, stands out for its high ecological value;It is home to habitats of community interest such as mobile and fixed dunes, sandbanks covered by shallow marine waters, initial marshes and coastal heaths. The area is also home to a number of protected species, such as the osprey, which uses this environment as a resting and feeding area.
