Our ecotourism commitment:

We transmit to our visitors the values of a UNESCO Geopark.

- You will learn about the geological phenomena of the tidal flats and the biodiversity of the area, a unique ecosystem inhabited by more than 250 species

- The activity is based on the interpretation of the natural environment, observing and discovering how the different species live in this complex ecosystem

- We transmit how to conserve and protect the different forms of life with small day-to-day actions.

Hiking, geology and landscapes, a foolproof plan

Do you want to visit the Basque Coast Geopark on your own? For whatever reason, you do not want or you can not embark on one of our guided tours and prefer to go on your own, at your own pace? No problem, we also have a solution for you.

We have designed some hiking trails that run through the most important geological points of the Geopark and that allow you to interpret them easily, on the fly. They are hiking routes of varying difficulty, which in addition to being well signposted and marked, have physical interpretation panels located in places of special interest.

But the best thing is that you can download for free from our website general and geological information (in PDF format designed for mobile reading) associated with each of the georoutes, which will allow you to consume this information easily and offline on your device while walking, getting a more technical, calm and personal vision of what you are seeing.

From the demanding Talaia georoute, unofficially also known as "The flysch route", which connects Deba with Zumaia (or in the opposite direction), to simpler georoutes such as Algorri, Elorriaga and the viewpoint of Baratzazarrak, the circular route through the Olatz valley, or the Lapari georoute, which allows you to discover the enigmas of the black flysch through the promenade of Deba.

Without forgetting, of course, one of the jewels in the crown: the Sakoneta georoute, a self-guided route that brings us closer to two of the most impressive points of the Geopark: the viewpoint of Mendatagaina and Sakoneta beach, walking along trails and breathtaking landscapes while you learn geological curiosities on the go carrying the information on your own cell phone. Few better plans to discover the Basque Coast Geopark at your own pace.
