A territory inhabited since prehistoric timesHuman presence has left traces of remarkable value and vestiges of a friendly and sustainable relationship between Man and Earth. Many of these cultural signs enjoy today national and international protection, being able to find, throughout the territory, tangible and intangible assets declared World Heritage, state-owned art collections, Historic-Artistic Sites of National Interest, Assets of Cultural Interest and archaeological sites that give an idea of the attitude of these peoples to generate value over the centuries.The Calahorra de Aledo, the remains of the Roman and Arab Baths of Alhama, the Historic-Artistic Site of Mula, the Argaric site of La Bastida de Totana, the Calle del Agua de Pliego or Las Posadas del Marqués de Librilla are some of the most outstanding historical sites, as well as Los Pozos de la Nieve, located in the highest areas of Sierra Espuña. A set of 28 wells that were used for the storage of snow for the production of ice. They represent a historical and cultural vestige of incalculable value within the Sierra Espuña Park. They were built between the XVI and XX centuries with the purpose of supplying ice to the nearby towns.

Starting with the collection of Iberian Art of the Museo del Cigarralejo, state-owned and the only monographic museum of Iberian culture, you can lose yourself in the rooms of interesting museums, art galleries, exhibition halls and interpretation.

Historic-Artistic Sites

Six towns that contain stories and legends among its streets and squares. The declared Historic-Artistic sites of Mula and Aledo stand out for their national relevance and their link to the aristocratic house of Los Velez and the Order of Santiago.

Vestiges of the Past

Explore the origin of civilization through archeology. From the Neolithic settlements, you will go through the Iberian or Argaric culture until you reach the Romanization and end up in the Middle Ages to learn about the Islamic past of the people of Espuña.

Assets of Cultural Interest

It enjoys almost 10% of all the Assets of Cultural Interest in the Region of Murcia. For example, the churches of the six towns are declared BIC, to which must be added castles, towers, palaces, archaeological sites and places of ethnographic interest.
