OUR TOWNS

secrets of nature among its charming villages.

Tradition, nature and charm in every corner.

They have a very marked character, bathed by the Cantabrian Sea or inland between mountains, in valleys of old farmhouses.

Bermeo

On the coast we highlight Bermeo, always recognized as one of the most important fishing ports of the Cantabrian coast. The current old town accurately represents how the medieval town was, in times when Bermeo became the head of the Lordship of Bizkaia. Streets with irregular slopes that crisscross each other form one of the oldest and largest historical centers of Euskadi.

Mundaka

The town of Mundaka is famous for surfing. The Mundaka wave is considered the best left wave in Europe. Kelly Slater, Mark Occhilupo, Aritz Aramburu or Kepa Acero have ridden the Mundaka wave, but above all it is the local surfers who enjoy it all year round.

Ea

You can also visit picturesque villages such as Ea, a place full of originality and charm, which invites you to stroll through the streets and cross the stone bridges that connect both sides of the estuary; Ibarrangelu, a must if you want to enjoy two of the most beautiful beaches of Urdaibai or get a bird's eye view of the Biosphere Reserve of Urdaibai and Elantxobe, a village "hanging" from the hillside overlooking the sea, sheltered by Cape Ogoño.

Gernika

And in the interior, Gernika stands out as a symbol of Basque liberties for being the birthplace of the Tree of Gernika, and it is also a municipality that proudly keeps its traditions. Every Monday is the meeting point of the baserritarras of the region, who come with their best products to the market; the fronton Jai Alai is an emblem of the cesta punta; and the name Gernika is linked to authentic gastronomic delights, such as beans and peppers.

Arratzu

You can also visit villages such as Arratzu with one of the best landscapes of the Atlantic countryside of Urdaibai; Arteaga, in the heart of the Biosphere Reserve of Urdaibai, a resting place for migratory birds or Muxika, a place of living traditions.
