The agricultural legacy

Discover the authenticity of our Agriculture

The essence of cultivated land

Espuña and its villages are not only forests, natural spaces, monuments and ancestral customs. There is something else that shapes the character of its people and that is the alpha and omega of all the above: Agriculture.

Traditional agriculture, a perfect symbiosis between the natural and the human, is the basis of the character of these regions. The climatic and orographic peculiarities of the territory have dictated the human action, which has shaped the landscapes and inspired the shapes, colors, sounds and smells of the people of the Sierra Espuña Territory, the land and water have carved the character of the men and women who inhabit it. Traditional agriculture has bequeathed us rich and peculiar customs, trades and crafts, through original ways of taming nature and taking advantage of its resources, some as vital and scarce as water, through cultivation and irrigation systems of high value, extensive grazing and cattle raising, traditional beekeeping, etc. Agriculture has offered and continues to offer genuine agrobiodiversity and a range of healthy and sustainable products, fresh and processed, from small farms that also contribute to improving the health of landscapes and forests.

And if we talk about the products we must not forget the grapes, almonds, citrus fruits, honey, wine, meat, paprika, oil, honey (some of them with denomination of origin)... They have given rise to a rich gastronomy and original recipes that define this unknown territory and that awaits you to share with you its honest authenticity.
