A journey of more than 500 million years
The whole territory of Sobrarbe County is a UNESCO Global Geopark, a designation of the UNESCO International Geoscience and Geoparks Program to recognize a territory with sites and landscapes of international geological importance, where protection, education and sustainable development based on its geological, cultural and natural heritage are promoted, and where the whole local community feels involved.
The Sobrarbe-Pyrenees Geopark works to raise awareness about the importance of geological heritage, giving its population a sense of pride in the region, strengthening their identification with it and also raising awareness among its visitors. The companies that are members of the Geopark offer numerous experiences to interpret the landscape and accompany our visitors on a journey of more than 500 million years, discovering incredible corners, amazing stories and reading the traces of ancient mountain ranges, arid deserts, glaciers, deep seas and tropical deltas.
