Where History Breathes Height
The Geopark has an extensive network of museums and exhibition centers that will help you understand the history, heritage and traditions linked to life in our mountains. Accompanied by their guides, the visit will be an experience that will not leave you indifferent to our rich geological, natural and cultural heritage. We suggest some of our museums:
Entering a deep cave, learning how it was formed and seeing and touching the bones of the cave bears that have been found there is an exciting and ideal experience for families. The route is completed with a visit to the Neolithic site of Coro Trasito and the Museum of the Cave Bear in Tella. https://cuevadeloso.com/
Bielsa is a clear example of our mountain villages. Its museum, located in the 16th century Town Hall, allows a journey through its history and traditions: its impressive high mountain nature, the immersive experience through a 3D video, its traditions and ways of life (mining, livestock, gastronomy), its recent history during the civil war, with the exodus, burning and reconstruction of the village, and its ancestral carnival that reaffirms year after year the identity of this valley and its inhabitants. https://www.museodebielsa.com/
In this private museum you can visit an extensive paleontological and archaeological collection of the Geopark. Almost all the fossils on display are from the Eocene, when the southern part of the Geopark was a delta with coastal and tropical areas. We will be able to see very singular fossils, some of them unique: sirenids, crocodiles, turtles, sharks... And also an extensive sample of invertebrates and plants: corals, sea urchins, sponges, bivalves, gastropods... https://fosilesdesobrarbe.blogspot.com/
