Discover its charm and resistance in a unique experience.
Gernika-Lumo is an obligatory stop for anyone visiting Urdaibai. For its history, for the natural environment that surrounds it, for its gastronomy, its cultural and political symbolism and for the bombing suffered in 1937. Nobody suspects today that Gernika was a neighborhood and commercial port.
This visit immerses you in its origin as a port, reveals its foundation, clarifies the symbolism of the Tree of Gernika and the importance of the Casa de Juntas; you will visit the scenes of the bombing, to know, in situ, the facts, and you can enter an authentic air raid shelter.
You will visit the iconic fronton Gernika Jai Alai, the traditional market of Gernika and the nooks and crannies and little secrets that this town keeps.
