An exceptional natural and cultural heritage

The Sobrarbe-Pyrenees World Geopark is a tourist destination with a heritage of international importance, where more than 50% of its surface has some kind of environmental protection.
 
It is a territory with an exceptional heritage that sets it apart, as it is one of the few places in the world with the 4 UNESCO crowns, since, apart from being a World Geopark, Sobrarbe has two World Heritage Sites, four sites included in the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage and a Biosphere Reserve.

- Sobrarbe-Pyrenees UNESCO World Geopark. Since 2006, the whole territory of Sobrarbe County, its 19 municipalities, has been recognized as a Geopark for its exceptional geological heritage. The history of the formation of the Pyrenees can be read here - 2 World Heritage Sites: Pyrenees-Monte Perdido. Transboundary property that includes more of the territory of the National Park of Ordesa and Monte Perdido (Ordesa Valley, Añisclo Canyon, Escuaín Gorge and Pineta Valley) and on its French side, part of the National Park of the Pyrenees (Gavarnie Cirque, Troumouse, Estaubé and Barroude) and declared World Heritage since 1997 for its exceptional geological heritage and for its cultural landscape showing the livestock life. Rock Art of the Mediterranean Arc of the Iberian Peninsula. It includes more than 20 enclaves of the Geopark with schematic style cave paintings inscribed on the World Heritage list since 1998, and developed by agro-pastoral societies. - 4 manifestations inscribed in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity: the dry stone technique, the fluvial transport of wood, Timber Rafting (navatas), the summer solstice fire festivities (the Falleta de San Juan) and transhumance. - The Ordesa-Viñamala Biosphere Reserve. Declared in 1977, it includes part of the Alto Gállego and Sobrarbe regions (municipalities of Torla-Ordesa, Broto, Fanlo, Puértolas, Tella-Sin and Bielsa), the core area being located in the Sobrarbe-Pyrenees Geopark. It is one of the best representations of the Pyrenean ecosystems with a great biodiversity and an exceptional site from the human and natural point of view, constituting a kind of "living laboratory".
