ECOTURIST Commitment

Now, more than ever, we must work for responsible tourism. La Garrotxa is an example to enjoy.

Our planet needs us

The Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park was one of the first European parks to adhere to the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in 2001. In this way, it aims to improve the sustainable development and tourism management of the protected area, always taking into account the needs of the environment, the population, local businesses and visitors.
La Garrotxa also has other areas that are part of the Natura 2000 Network and the Protected Natural Area of Alta Garrotxa.

Our commitment

The commitment of the managers of the territory with sustainability has its origin in 1996, with the creation of the Associació la Garrotxa, Terra d'Acolliment Turístic, in the statutes of which already included the promotion of sustainable tourism as a tourism strategy. This commitment was materialized in 2003, with the first accreditation of the Garrotxa with the CETS, and has been renewed every 5 years without interruption, being the only CETS destination in Europe that has achieved this milestone. The different five-year strategies have made it possible to address aspects such as universal tourism or sustainable mobility.
