Natural Treasures and Unforgettable Encounters

Nature in its purest form

From the high peaks to the valleys

Redes treasures a rugged profile, magnificent peaks, magical forests, endless meadows; and water, always present, backbone of the Park, protagonist and narrator of the history of these lands and their people.

From the source of the Nalón River at the Nalona spring, in the Puerto de Tarna, the scene of important historical moments, to the refuge of its high peaks, passing through the villages, irrigating their meadows and deciding on them, plaguing them with hydraulic devices; to the point of being used as a reservoir, for the supply of the central area of Asturias and electricity production. Nothing in this Natural Park escapes the dominion of water. The Park stands out for its forests, which occupy almost 45% of the territory, with the beech tree as protagonist in extension and beauty; and, of course, the oaks, accompanied by hazelnut and chestnut trees, dominant in the lower areas of the slopes. Scrublands, heathlands? and to complete the picture, meadows.

Redes is home to at least seven of the species included in the Regional Catalogue of Threatened Vascular Flora of Asturias: holly, yew, lando rush, juncal fern, Asturias daffodil, trumpet daffodil and alpine lycopodium. And in these forests, on the mountain ridges, in the meadows, inhabit most of the vertebrates described in Asturias: 50 species of mammals, 130 of birds, 10 of amphibians and 4 of fishes. Here is a short list: bear, wolf, fox, chamois, deer, roe deer, roe deer, desman, golden eagle, Egyptian vulture, vulture, peregrine falcon, black woodpecker, wallcreeper, alpine sparrow? in addition to the birds associated with the aquatic world. As you know, and not to lose the magic, the observation must be accompanied by knowledge, skill, and a good dose of fortune.Traveling to Redes means putting all the right ingredients in a shaker to obtain an unforgettable ecotourism experience, the Redes Natural Park will always offer you the freshness of a first encounter, no matter how many times you have visited it.
