Livestock transhumance, thatching and apitourism
Adéntrate in the heartón of the traditions of the Xeodestino Ancares Terras de Burón, an enclave where rural life preserves its soul intact. This unique territory, located in the eastern corner of Galicia and bordering León and Asturias shows a wild nature and rugged landscape that have shaped the way of life of the local community. Its isolation has allowed to transfer to the present a culture rooted in its traditions.
Relive the historical transhumance, knowing the mountain routes through which herds of cows have traveled for generations to take advantage of the pastures of the different areas of this corner of Galicia reaching the mountains of León. Depending on the time of the year, you can coincide with these cows doing the transhumance (going up in spring and coming down in autumn) or witness other small grazing routes between different grazing areas.
Leaving Moreira and passing through Piornedo, and then continuing to Braña de Piornedo and finally arriving at Monte de As Charcas in León.
Leaving from Campa de Braña, going up to Campa do Cimbro, passing through Campa Tres Bispos and finishing at Monte As Charcas (León).

In the mountain villages of the Xeodestino Ancares Terras de Burón, the pallozas and thatched teitos are an icon of popular heritage. These constructions, with rye roofs, are unique testimonies of prehistoric architecture and the ingenuity of its inhabitants in the face of climate and adversity. Piornedo and O Cebreiro are two of the villages that preserve these traditional buildings. Through the association Teitos de Piornedo you can learn more about the culture of the traditional pallozas with their thatched roofs, and enter into the daily life of the people who live there. The work of maintaining the thatched roofs is done collectively which gives rise at the end of the day to small parties called "polavilas", which are held inside a palloza and never lacking good food, music and joy.
