DELTA DEL EBRO

Where land and water meet

Committed to sustainability and respect for nature

Ecotourist Commitment

The Ebro Delta Natural Park has established itself as an ecotourism destination, thanks to its strong commitment to sustainability and promoting quality tourism, respectful and beneficial to local communities. This effort has been recognized internationally with awards such as the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism, EDEN Award (European Destinations of Excellence), Ebro Lands Biosphere Reserve declared by UNESCO and Soy Ecoturista (Ecotourism product club in Spain).
The Association of Ecotourism Companies of the Ebro Delta (AEEDE) was born, in 2005, in order to present the candidacy for the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (CETS) of the Ebro Delta Natural Park. In 2013 it joined Soy Ecoturista to work together with certified ecotourism companies in the territory for a model of responsible tourism development committed to the preservation of protected natural areas.

Nature in balance, life in every corner

Ebro Delta

The Ebro Delta offers an incomparable, unique and singular setting. Its landscape, of extraordinary biological richness, is home to an incalculable diversity of fauna and flora. With an area of 320 km² and a Natural Park of 7,736 hectares, this aquatic habitat is vital among the wetlands of the Mediterranean.

The uniqueness of the Ebro Delta is manifested not only in its physical, geographical and natural reality, but also in its traditions, culture, architectural heritage and history. The Delta's landscape has a strong personality: its completely flat lands give it a distinctive appearance. Extensive rice fields, whose appearance varies with the seasons, dominate the physiognomy of the Delta. In addition, there are large lagoons surrounded by reeds and rushes, large areas of brackish soils and long deserted beaches with significant dune formations.
