Recommended places and times

Although the entire island offers countless places to enjoy the connection with nature, there are places that allow you to do it quietly. This is one of the last vestiges of the subtropical rainforests that have disappeared almost everywhere on the planet, and to visit this park is to go back in time. These are some of the recommended places and schedules to live a complete experience.

The path is characterized by its laurel forest vegetation. Along the way, you can observe large ferns near the riverbed and barbusanos in steep areas that transport us to ancient times.

Recommended season: All year round.Special features: Laurisilva doves can be seen in the afternoon or early in the day. Flowers scattered in incredible places.more detail: The route offers magnificent views of Los Roques and the steep headwaters of the Hermigua ravine. It is an excellent place to appreciate the difference of environments between slopes. The northern slope is frequently shrouded by fog, even in summer, covered by a humid laurel forest with abundant mosses and lichens on the ground and on the trees. A multitude of water droplets are frequently observed as a result of the condensation of the fog on the leaves of the vegetation.

Recommended season: All year round, especially in spring and summer.special feature: Stargazing and movie-like sunsets.more detail: The Alto de Garajonay, with its 1487 meters high, is the highest point of the island and is located within the Park. It is a privileged viewpoint from where, on clear days, you can see islands such as La Palma, El Hierro, Tenerife and Gran Canaria. A site steeped in history and magic, it was home to rituals and sacrifices of the ancient Gomeros, as evidenced by the pre-Hispanic archaeological remains found in the area. It is also an excellent place for stargazing due to the low light pollution, highlighting constellations such as Sagittarius and Scorpio and the star Antares.

Recommended time: All year round, mainly in spring and at sunrise in September (weather permitting).Special feature: Ideal for a panoramic view and to see the imposing Morro de Agando. Bring binoculars: The viewpoint is named after the imposing Roque de Agando, a rock formation that rises majestically more than 1,200 meters above sea level. This rock is one of the most emblematic of the island and is visible from many points of La Gomera. It is an ancient volcanic conduit. Erosion has eliminated over time the softer material that surrounded the conduit, exposing this impressive formation.

Los Roques hanging viewpoint

Recommended season: All year round, mainly in the afternoon or early in the morning.Special features: Silence in contact with the majestic nature of stone and vegetation.More detail: The hanging viewpoint of Los Roques is a very quiet little-known walkway that invites you to connect with the monumental surroundings. The rocks are the protagonists of the landscape and were considered sacred by the Gomeran aborigines. On the right days you can observe cascades of mist that fall precipitating on the slopes of the mountains.
