<p>From Bodega Cerro de las Cruces, José María opens the doors to his life’s work to share much more than just wine: he shares the land, the history, and his passion for Guadix.<br><br>The experience begins with breathtaking views of the Hoya de Guadix, a landscape shaped over millions of years that is now part of the Granada Geopark. Amid vineyards situated at an altitude of 950 meters, visitors discover how the elevation, the clay soil, and the temperature contrast between day and night give each grape its own unique character.<br><br>Depending on the season, the visit changes: in spring, visitors learn about grape varieties and the vine’s growth cycles; during harvest, they taste the grapes straight from the vineyard, gaining an understanding of the fruit before it becomes wine.<br><br>The tour continues in the cave cellar, a space dug into the earth that naturally maintains the optimal temperature year-round thanks to its natural climate control. There, José María passionately explains the winemaking process for his white and red wines, combining technical precision with artisanal sensitivity.<br>The experience culminates with a guided tasting of three wines (white, young red, and crianza), accompanied by locally sourced cured meats, thereby promoting collaboration with local businesses. <p>In a little-known corner of the municipality of Darro, within the Granada Geopark, lies Bodega Anchurón: a family-run winery that captivates visitors from the very first moment with its location and the way the landscape is woven into every stage of the winemaking process.<br><br>The experience begins at the winery’s entrance, where Luis Miguel or his father personally welcome visitors. Depending on the season and weather, the visit may include a walk through the vineyard, where the trellis and double-cordon training systems are explained—a technique that promotes plant ventilation and fruit balance. Here, in an open and unique setting, visitors understand how the orientation, soil, and climate of the Granada highlands directly influence the character of the wine.<br><br>The tour continues in the winery, partially excavated into a semi-cave, where the earth itself helps maintain the coolness and stability necessary for winemaking. 4x4 Tour of Los Colorados in the Gorafe Desert
<p>In the heart of the Granada Geopark lies one of the most striking and least-known landscapes on the Iberian Peninsula: the Gorafe Desert. This landscape has been shaped over millions of years by erosion, where the whimsical forms of the clay and the ravines create a scene that seems to be from another planet.<br><br>The circular route through Los Colorados allows you to explore this unique landscape aboard a 4x4 vehicle, traveling approximately 24 kilometers along desert trails while making strategic stops to interpret the terrain. During the tour, local guide José Manuel—a specialist ornithologist and expert on the area—will share with visitors the geological history of the Geopark, as well as the rich flora and fauna inhabiting this seemingly arid ecosystem.<br><br>Along the route, you’ll discover spectacular geological formations, ancient farming areas, and caves traditionally used by farmers—testaments to the historical relationship between humans and this land. Vegetation adapted to the dry climate—such as esparto grass, broom, and albairas—reveals how nature has thrived under extreme conditions.<br><br>The experience also offers excellent opportunities for birdwatching.
