Delta sailing

Discover the Delta sailing its calm waters

The Ebro Delta is one of the most impressive and richest areas in Spain in terms of biodiversity, and sailing through it is an excellent way to enjoy its landscapes, fauna and flora. There are several options for touring the Ebro Delta by boat or different types of boats:

1. Guided boat trips:

These are excursions organized by local companies that allow you to tour different areas of the delta. Some of the most common options are:

- Boat trip around the mouth of the Ebro: You usually sail from nearby towns, such as Deltebre, to the mouth of the river itself. During the trip, you can see birds such as flamingos, herons and other species.

- Boat trip to Buda Island: One of the most unspoiled areas of the Delta, where you can observe a great biodiversity and unique landscapes.

- Route through Alfacs Bay or Fangar Bay: These are two of the most important bays of the Ebro Delta, and usually offer walks in which to enjoy the natural environment.

2. Boat rentals

If you prefer to sail at your own pace, many companies offer different types of boats for rent:

- Boats without a license: These are small boats that do not require any type of license to sail, ideal for those with no previous experience.

- Kayaks and canoes: A more sporty and ecological option that allows you to explore more hidden and less accessible corners of the Delta.

- Sailboats or motorboats: If you have a license or want to hire a skipper, you can also opt for larger boats to enjoy a more complete experience.

3. Themed river cruises

Some companies organize thematic and interpretative cruises that may include tasting of local products (such as mussels or oysters from the Delta), bird watching tours or excursions focused on nature photography.

4. Paddle Surfing and windsurfing

In the calmer waters of the bays and in some channels, paddle surfing is an attractive option for touring the delta while enjoying the scenery. In addition, if the wind conditions are suitable, there are also ideal places for windsurfing in the surroundings of the Ebro Delta.

5. Catamaran routes

Some organized excursions use catamarans, which offer greater stability and are ideal for large groups or families. These trips usually include stops for swimming or even tastings on board.

Recommendations:

- Book in advance, especially in high season, as it is an activity in high demand.

- Bring sunscreen, hat and water, as the sun in the Ebro Delta can be quite intense.

- If you are interested in wildlife, especially bird watching, bring binoculars to enjoy the experience.
