Tips for planning your trip to this unique natural area

Although every season has its own charm in Doñana, spring is particularly bountiful, with the marshes at their most spectacular thanks to the rains, which make the area a key hub for bird breeding and migration. Life flourishes in Doñana during the flowering months.

Summers are very hot in this area, so we recommend scheduling your nature activities for early morning and late afternoon, when wildlife is most active. Water tends to pool in certain spots, and birds (and other wildlife) are well acquainted with these areas of permanent water.

Fall and winter reveal one of Doñana’s most authentic and surprising sides. With the first rains, the marshes begin to transform and welcome thousands of migratory birds that find rest and food here, offering unique natural spectacles and large gatherings of winged wildlife. The milder temperatures and the tranquility of the season allow you to enjoy the natural landscape from a different perspective, encouraging leisurely observation and more intimate experiences with the environment. Additionally, winter coincides with the peak activity period for the Iberian lynx, making it one of the most special times to try to spot this iconic and elusive feline.

How do I get there?

Road access to Doñana is easy from any of the three provinces thanks to its excellent transportation network. The A-49 highway is the northern route connecting Seville and Huelva, and the AP-4 is the main access route from Cádiz.

A network of local roads crisscrosses the territory through the natural park and the socioeconomic area of influence of the Biosphere Reserve.
