In the heart of the province of Jaén, an incomparable natural treasure.
The Natural Park of the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas is considered the largest protected area in Spain and the second largest in Europe, with an area of more than 214,000 hectares.
The different mountain ranges that compose this park are located within the prebetic group and in some points they reach 2,000 m. of altitude.
Among the distinctions and recognitions that the Park holds, it is worth mentioning its declaration as a Biosphere Reserve in 1983 by UNESCO. In addition, it was also declared a Special Protection Area for Birds (SPA) in 1987 and Special Area of Conservation (SAC) in 2017, among others.
Two of the most important rivers in Spain, the Segura and the Guadalquivir, are born in the summits of this park. These rivers, together with their tributaries and streams, provide the area with an important hydrographic network. In addition, the place of their births are important attractions for visitors.
Regarding the fauna, we can highlight the existence of species of special interest, such as the griffon vulture, the golden eagle and the bearded vulture, as well as deer, mountain goats and wild boars.
The beauty of its natural landscapes, with steep reliefs and rocky walls of great height, interspersed with deep valleys, make it one of the most visited areas of Andalusia.
