We are committed to the environment and work towards sustainable tourism.
That is why we are taking measures in this direction. More information
The "Puntallana: In the Footsteps of the Volcano" experience takes place in the Puntallana Special Reserve, a protected area that preserves cliffs, lava flows, and one of La Gomera’s most significant cultural sites. Our commitment to ecotourism is based on a thorough interpretation of the territory, minimizing our impact, and actively contributing to local development and conservation.
- Interpretation of geological and cultural heritage in a protected area: The activity reveals La Gomera’s volcanic history, the formation of its cliffs, and the relationship between volcanism, marine erosion, and coastal biodiversity. It also explores the cultural value of the Puntallana sanctuary, integrating nature and intangible heritage.
- Minimizing Impacts and Responsible Use of the Territory The tour follows authorized trails, avoiding unstable or sensitive areas. We work with small groups (max. 8 people) to reduce pressure on the environment and promote the “leave no trace” philosophy. In this area, it is common to find trash washed up by the sea; during the activity, any waste encountered will be collected, fostering shared environmental responsibility and leaving the area in better condition than it was found.
- Contribution to conservation and support for local development The experience is designed and led by a local professional, creating direct employment and boosting the island’s economy. Conservation values are promoted, threats such as accelerated erosion or the impact of climate change on the coast are explained, and visitors are encouraged to support local initiatives related to natural and cultural heritage.

An interpretive tour of the Puntallana Special Nature Reserve, one of the most unique geological landscapes on La Gomera. We’ll hike among ancient lava flows, coastal cliffs, and natural viewpoints that reveal the island’s volcanic history. By interpreting the landscape, you’ll understand how fire, the sea, and time have shaped this rugged terrain full of contrasts.
The tour is led by a local expert in geology, biodiversity, and island culture, who will help you identify volcanic structures, basalt formations, fossils from ancient sea levels, and vegetation adapted to the trade winds and the arid conditions of northern La Gomera. You’ll also learn about the cultural and spiritual significance of the Puntallana sanctuary, a key site in the island’s collective memory.
An ideal experience for those who wish to discover the volcanic essence of La Gomera and understand how this unique landscape was formed.
