The cuisine of the Río Eo, Oscos, and Terras de Burón Biosphere Reserve reflects the close relationship between local communities and the resources provided by the region. In inland areas, the tradition of livestock farming provides excellent veal and pork products, the preparation of which is an integral part of rural culture and customs. Family gardens continue to supply seasonal produce that plays a prominent role in local cuisine.

The Reserve also boasts outstanding artisanal agri-food production. The cheeses made in Taramundi, the cider produced in this same municipality, and the renowned honey from Los Oscos are some of the products that help keep traditional activities alive and generate value in rural areas.

In the area around the Eo estuary, fish and shellfish are an integral part of the local culinary identity, with oysters—one of the estuary’s most distinctive products—standing out in particular. The proximity between Asturias and Galicia is also reflected at the table, where culinary influences, recipes, and traditions from both regions coexist.

Choosing local products and establishments committed to the region is a way to discover the culture of the Reserve, support its producers, and contribute to the conservation of a landscape shaped over centuries by human activity and the sustainable use of natural resources.
