We are committed to the environment and work towards sustainable tourism.
That is why we are taking measures in this direction. More information
- The meaning of the environments through which we travel is transmitted in a very pleasant way, understanding the ecosystem and landscape, its evolution and main components - The biodiversity of these protected areas, the key species of flora and fauna present, their current state of conservation and threat is explained. - The necessary behavior of the visitor in these protected areas is indicated under the premise that you should not notice that you have been there, also transferring it to the route traveled. The imperative need to carry all waste generated, including organic waste, is demanded. A cooperative group work is done by collecting all the waste that is found along the route, making an assessment of the impact caused by each one that is removed, as an exercise of environmental awareness in situ. - In addition, at the end of the field trip, the participants are encouraged to visit the village of El Barraco and get in touch with its inhabitants by walking through its streets, bars and stores, thus making the necessary link between the landscape (environment) and the people (those who live there). - The production centers of the most cutting-edge local gastronomic initiatives, with recognized international awards to their credit, which fully complete the experience enjoyed, highlighting the Don Juan del Águila Winery (PDO Cebreros), the Craft Beer Factory Raíz Cuadrada and the Elvira García Cheese Factory.
This activity is one of the field trips offered since the opening of the Museum of Nature, with more than 16 years of experience offering Mycological Days and Outings. A brief general introduction to the Kingdom of Mushrooms and how to collect specimens in the correct way is made. As we walk through the field, each participant collects in his basket the mushrooms that he finds, with the support and advice of the monitor. Once the collecting part is finished, in the same field there is a Mycology Classroom-Workshop around the monitor-guide for the classification, identification and explanation of the material found. The characteristics of each group are explained, the mushrooms are handled, smelled and broken to learn their differential parts. Special attention is paid to the distinction between edible and toxic mushrooms, highlighting their fundamental differences. Basic notions are given to learn how to photograph mushrooms in the most didactic way possible, which facilitates their later recognition. As a prize, the most diligent "students", always under the final supervision of the instructor, will be able to take home the edible specimens they have collected and wish to taste at home, with some advice on the most recommended recipes.
