Proposals for walking through the space
Montseny, with its Mediterranean forests and crystalline springs, is a paradise for hiking lovers. Its marked trails will guide you through a cultural heritage hidden in the most remote areas: archaeological sites, castles and hermitages. But don't rush; stop to admire the landscapes and listen to the life that bustles among the different species that inhabit the Montseny Natural Park.
Enter this natural space and immerse yourselfin a world of hiking without limits.
The natural park of Montseny has more than 300 km of signposted routes, suitable for all audiences and for all levels, long routes, crossings, and short interpretive circular trails:
What awaits you? Breathtaking landscapes, encounters with unique people and the opportunity to contribute to the protection of this territory.
Throughout the Park, two long-distance trails intertwine like threads of ancient history. The first, the GR 5, winds from the coast of Sitges to Canet de Mar, crossing the Garraf, Montserrat, Sant Llorenç del Munt and l'Obac, Montseny and Montnegre i el Corredor. Its signs, unmistakable, are like white and red ink marks arranged horizontally, guiding hikers with green metallic fites that stand out in the landscape. The second, the GR 2, emerges from La Jonquera and enters the northern sector of the massif, meeting its companion at Aiguafreda.
Through the trails, like threads that weave the history of the land, landscapes and secrets unfold.
- PR C-20
It begins at the Ethnological Museum of Montseny in Arbúcies, culminating at the top of Montsoriu Castle, a Gothic treasure that stands majestic in Catalonia.
- Local trail C-81 (The Chestnut Tree of the Nine Branches)
This 7 km circular route reveals various ecosystems of the park, with its flora and fauna species, and takes us to one of the most robust chestnut trees in Montseny.
- PR C-42, (Taradell Trail)
It climbs up to the highest point of Taradell, skimming the castle walls. Starting from the Font Gran, it heads towards the imposing Pujol holm oak and the old quarry. Then, it heads towards the hermitage of Sant Quirze and reaches the top of the Enclusa, the highest point of Taradell. On its way, it approaches Taradell Castle and descends to the tomb of the Sequers de Gasala, next to the monument commemorating the Catalan expedition Everest 85, the first to conquer the summit of the world. Finally, going around the golf course, it returns to the starting point at Font Gran.
- Local trail SL-C 85, which connects El Brull with Collformic.
It reveals the rich monumental heritage of the region. From the Romanesque church of St. Martí to the ancient castle of Brull, passing through farmhouses such as Castanyera and Morera, as well as the cross of the Carlins. In addition, discover unique places such as the FontdeFaig fountain, the hermitage of Maria Mitjancera and the Coll Formic.
- Path of the village of Montseny (Walking through the heart of the massif)
It starts at the Montseny village square, approaching the Tordera and arriving at the Romanesque church of Sant Martí. The itinerary runs along dirt tracks and trails, with a short stretch of road. Along the way, it enters alzina and riparian forests, bordering the Tordera and ascending through a narrow corridor to the Romanesque hermitage of Sant Martí, which was the first church in the municipality of Montseny.
- Trail in Sant Esteve de Palautordera (Hike with views of the Turó de l'Home)
Starting from the main street of the village, we head towards a still agricultural area of the municipality. We pass near the Castell de Fluvià, cross the road and continue walking until we reach the river Tordera. Here, we will have to cross it. If the river carries water, we will take off our shoes to cross it, enjoying a fun experience. The road continues to the Castell de Montclús, which is in the process of excavation. After visiting the castle, we return along the same path to the starting point and take the track on our left, ascending near the Can Jeroni farmhouse. At this point, we find a path that we will take downhill, turning right and returning to the Tordera and the village of Sant Esteve de Palautordera.
