The climate in La Gomera is exceptional due to the trade winds that caress it and form a picturesque sea of clouds on its slopes and are responsible for maintaining the Garajonay National Park in an exuberant state throughout the ages.The geographical situation of La Gomera made it the last stopping point for Christopher Columbus before embarking on his historic voyage to America in 1492.

Highly protected:

The entire island of La Gomera is a Biosphere Reserve and has two World Heritage Sites: the Garajonay National Park and the Silbo Gomero, a whistled language unique in the world. The island is home to 17 natural areas that protect a third of its territory, with the Garajonay National Park being the best preserved example of laurel forests in the world.
