BIRDWATCHING

The home of the medium-sized woodpecker

The star bird of Izki is the medium woodpecker, a challenge both for the birdwatcher and for those responsible for its conservation who have to ensure the safeguarding of the tranquility of their breeding areas. In Izki we can observe a great variety of woodpeckers.

Rupicolous species such as the griffon vulture or the golden eagle, easier to observe, are a good alternative if we have not been lucky enough to come across the woodpeckers on the forest trails.

There are 3 circular ornithological itineraries in which it will be easier to observe birds:

Izki ravines (5 km)

It is a signposted circular route that from the parking lot of the village of Korres leads us to the viewpoint of Antoñana to return through the ravine of Korres.

Marojal crossing (14 km)

This is a signposted circular route that leads from the parking lot of the village of Korres to San Román de Campezo through an extensive marojal.

The Izki rafts (6 km)

Circular route marked as SL-A 80, starting from the parking lot of the village of Urturi, runs along the ponds of El Espinal, El Raso, Las Rozas and Las Huertas.
