Caring for Our Land, Building a Future
Sustainability is one of our core values and a shared responsibility. We are committed to a form of tourism that helps preserve our natural and cultural heritage, creates opportunities for the local population, and helps build a better future.
A destination to explore at your own pace
At the western edge of the province of Cáceres, in Extremadura, along the border with Portugal and around the course of the Tagus River, lies a region where Mediterranean nature, history, and border culture are all part of a single identity. We are inTajo Internacional, a land of dehesas, riverbanks, mountain ranges, and small villages that preserve the essence of a way of life closely tied to the landscape.
The Tajo-Tejo Internacional Transboundary Biosphere Reserve, designated by UNESCO in 2016, encompasses 14 municipalities in Cáceres on the Spanish side, spanning an area of more than 260,000 hectares that shares a valuable natural and cultural heritage with Portugal.
Holm oaks and cork oaks shape a landscape where nature and rural life are closely intertwined. Exploring its pastures means gaining insight into traditional land uses, such as cork harvesting, and learning to look beyond the trees. Among its botanical highlights are orchids, the striking Albardera rose, and the unique carnivorous plant Drosophyllum lusitanicum. Here, the border is much more than a line on a map: it is a shared history, a distinct culture, and a meeting place.
