Geopark Comarca de Molina - Alto Tajo

The wide network of valleys and gorges are embedded on the rock layers, exposing the history of the Earth since 450 million years ago.


In 2014, the Comarca de Molina-Alto Tajo Geopark received the credentials as a full member of the European Network and the Global Geoparks Network. In 2015 it was recognized as a UNESCO Global Geopark within the International Geoparks and Earth Sciences Program.


This territory encompasses several protected natural areas such as the Upper Tagus Natural Park and the Natura 2000 Network.

It is our commitment that the territory has distinguished tourism quality seals to make this destination a unique place. The tourism quality seals are the materialization of a constant commitment to continuous improvement.

UNESCO Global Geopark

The geopark declaration has objectives linked to the conservation and enhancement of its resources, promoting socioeconomic and cultural development through a sustainable development strategy and involving the local community.

CETS

In 2018 the Upper Tagus Natural Park joined the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism and since October 2021, 12 companies were accredited with this recognition system, promoting sustainable tourism.

Starlight reserve skies of Guadalajara

Our Geopark is a place with the best conditions for astronomical observation.

 

The quality of the skies of Molina-Alto Tajo are valued withthe highest Starlight certification for astronomical tourism. Since January 2021 they are a Starlight Reserve.

 

In addition, in May 2021, 44 students were trained in the Starlight Astronomical Monitors Course in order to disseminate this rich heritage, which belongs to all of us.

Ecotourism in the Natura 2000 network Castilla - La Mancha

Product Ecotourism in Castilla-La Mancha, is the journey to enjoy the best of its nature with tourism companies committed to its conservation.
In 2023, 9 regions of Castilla-La Mancha have joined together to offer authentic ecotourism experiences that allow you to discover a selection of Red Natura 2000 sites with companies trained and committed to their conservation.
