Destination for responsible tourism, destination for ecotourism
The Geopark of Granada obtained in July 2020 the recognition as a UNESCO Global Geopark, after an intense work of the agents of the territory to meet the requirements of governance, sustainability and promotion of geotourism.
In April 2024 it revalidated this recognition after demonstrating progress in recent years. Since 2021 several companies have joined Soy Ecoturista and become collaborators of the Geopark, for their commitment to conservation and local development, offering varied ecotourism experiences in a natural and cultural treasure that combines the geological heritage with the cultural heritage of the territory.
The Granada Geopark destination has therefore demonstrated a remarkable commitment to sustainability and, specifically, to ecotourism. As mentioned above, in 2021, the Geopark of Granada adhered to the Soy Ecoturista brand, a fact that not only reflects the Geopark's commitment to environmental conservation, but also its interest in offering tourism experiences that respect and value nature. It also has a growing number of collaborating companies and, therefore, also adhered to Soy Ecoturista, which share the values of sustainability and conservation and collaborate closely with the Geopark of Granada in the promotion and promotion of sustainable tourism in the territory.
The trajectory of the Granada Geopark to become a sustainable destination has been highlighted for marking a path that seeks to harmonize tourism development with the preservation of the natural and cultural heritage, a commitment to sustainable tourism that not only enriches the natural and cultural heritage of the area, but also the natural and cultural heritage of the area. This is a commitment to sustainable tourism that not only enriches the tourist offer of our territory, but also contributes to the well-being of the local population and to its protection and conservation.
