Get to know the Delta's rice tradition, a living cultural heritage
Rice culture in the Ebro Delta isa fundamental part of the region's identity. Rice cultivation, which dates back to the 19th century, has shaped both the landscape and local traditions. The huts are traditional dwellings built with natural materials, such as cane and mud, emblematic of the ethnographic heritage of the territory.
The planting (in June) and harvest (in September) festivals celebrate key moments in the rice cycle. During these festivities, locals and visitors participate in the planting and harvesting of rice in a traditional manner, accompanied by music, dances, and typical gastronomy. These celebrations not only honor agricultural work, but also preserve and disseminate both the customs and values of the Ebro Delta.
