In 2019 the Ambroz Valley won the EDEN (European Destinations of Excellence)award from the European Union for the best health and wellness destination in Spain. For something 2,000 years ago the Romans already enjoyed the thermal waters in Baños de Montemayor, where it is possible to visit the original terma, and above all it is advisable to enjoy its relaxation, health and beauty treatments, recommended by Europe but also by the Romans, as attested by the numerous votive aras donated in gratitude to its healing waters, which can also be seen in its museum.
A place with a very wide gastronomic offer, with numerous quality restaurants with Michelin Guide awards. But above all with an excellent raw material, based on the products of the garden and seasonal, and especially in their meats raised in extensive and of the highest quality.
Take a thermal bath, or a forest bath along one of its trails, you have more than 200 kilometers to choose from. Or enjoy the communion with nature on the back of a horse along one of the routes offered in the region.
The Ambroz Valley has three spas. Two of them are located in Baños de Montemayor, one of them with its original Roman baths exhibited in its museum, in a beautiful 19th century building. In front of it, the new spa with the most modern techniques of beauty and health. The other is located in Hervás in the beautiful natural setting of Salugral, overlooking the Ambroz River and the mountains.
They share the quality of its sulfurous waters and the centenary tradition for the care and enjoyment of people. There are also thermal pools perfect to enjoy as a couple or with the family and recover from the activities carried out during the day.
