The Mariñas Coruñesas Biosphere Reserve offers plenty of places to disconnect and enjoy nature, we have several core zones that are specially protected areas dedicated to the conservation of biodiversity and the beautiful ecosystem that we have. These areas are vital to maintain our ecosystem.
This is a coastal trail located on the coast of our Reserve. It is known for its natural beauty and panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and is located in Arteixo, near the city of A Coruña. The trail runs about 6.5 kilometers approximately (about two hours walking) that connects with seven beaches of the nine that this municipality has. It is an ideal place to enjoy unbeatable views, walk or play sports and it is also a good place to watch birds and cetaceans.
The Betanzos-Mandeo Natural Area is a protected natural area designed to preserve and conserve the natural and scenic richness of the region, located in the northwestern area, encompassing several municipalities including Betanzos, Paderne, Coirós, Irixoa, Oza-Cesuras and Curtis, and covering a variety of landscapes, including rivers, forests, mountains and coastal areas. The Mandeo river and its tributaries are a prominent feature, and the vegetation varies from native forests to aquatic habitats. This natural area is home to a rich diversity of flora and fauna. From a great diversity of birds and fish to native species of trees and plants, if you come to discover this wonderful place you can enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, bird watching and various activities related to nature.
This coastal stretch of cliff located between the mouths of the estuaries of A Coruña and Ares-Betanzos is one of the natural jewels of Galicia. Formed by a succession of shale cliffs and small coves, large fields covered with nature typical of the area that extends inland, constitute a unique wild space, especially in this place stands out for its impressive colony of breeding bird species rare in Galicia and other species typical of the Galician cliff areas. Any time of the year is ideal to visit this area. Moreover, it is advisable to visit it in all seasons, in order to discover the different birds that appear in each of them.
This reservoir was built mainly to supply water to the city of A Coruña and its surroundings. In addition to this function it also contributes to the generation of electricity through a hydroelectric power plant.the environment of the reservoir is a perfect place to practice ecotourism. It is an excellent place for bird watching while discovering the area, there are hiking trails to enjoy the natural beauty of this place, picnics and enjoy outdoor activities in a quiet and natural environment always respecting nature.
