Unique experiences in nature

Deer rutting (September-October)

One of the most impressive natural spectacles that can be experienced in the park. During the autumn months, the deer come down to the raña and begin to prepare for the rutting season, emitting powerful bellows to attract females and confront other males through intense fights to demonstrate their strength. Episodes usually occur at dusk and dawn.

Bird watching

From natural viewpoints or 4x4 routes can be sighted:

Insectivorous birds in spring and granivorous birds in autumn in the raña.

Black and griffon vultures gliding over the park.

Other birds of prey such as golden eagles, peregrine falcons and blue-winged kites among others.

Migratory birds such as the lesser kestrel, white stork, oropendolas and many more.

The floral explosion in spring

From March to May, Cabañeros is full of color with the flowering of many species. The vast plains form a purple mantle of viboreras (Echium plantagineum) and lavender, with the yellow of dandelions or daffodils or the white of daisies. The mountains are dressed in colors, rockroses, wild orchids and peonies stand out among the greenery of the mountain.

The cranes in November

During this month, thousands of cranes arrive at the park on their winter migration, creating a unique spectacle that can be observed at the Torre de Abraham reservoir, which serves as a roosting site.

Autumn mushroom season

The autumn rains favor the development of various species of mushrooms, allowing mycology lovers to put their knowledge to the test.

Summer sunrises and sunsets

In summer, sunrises are spectacular, with clear skies and perfect for photography.

Throughout the year, the sunsets stain the landscape with golden, reddish and purple tones... The extensive Cabañeros canopy evokes African landscapes, becoming known locally as the Spanish Serengeti.

The Astronomical Center of Alcoba de los Montes offers night observations in an environment without light pollution, ideal for astronomy and photography of the night sky.

Visits to cheese dairies, wineries and oil mills

In the surrounding villages you can visit artisan cheese dairies, wineries and extra virgin olive oil mills, where you can learn about and taste high quality local products.

Cabañeros all year round

The observation of the night sky, visits to the Astronomical Planetarium of Alcoba and gastronomy are year-round experiences. As well as photography.
