The brown bear is undoubtedly the king of our forest, an animal that inspires respect and admiration among locals and strangers alike and with which we have learned to coexist over the centuries. The forests of our region are home to the largest and most stable population of bears in the Iberian Peninsula and, with the help of a guide, there are many possibilities to observe their splendid figure crossing the mountain in the most favorable times.
The king bear is accompanied in Fuentes del Narcea by wolves, chamois, capercaillies, owls, salamanders or a huge catalog of mustelids and birds, Cantabrian fauna and flora.
