Autumn is a very pleasant season in Ambroz, with mild temperatures and above all an explosion of color. The great variety of trees generates a palette of bright ocher colors that seems magical. At this time the rains return and the smells of the forest awaken, wet leaves, mushrooms, chestnuts are both the perfect raw material for autumn cuisine.
Proposals for enjoyment in nature, mycology, hiking, biking, interpreted routes, astronomy.
In order to enjoy it more thoroughly, the Magic Autumn festival was created in 1998, recognized as a festival of national tourist interest, which includes numerous activities in nature around the month of November. Every weekend there are proposals such as hiking, biking, mycological day, gastronomic tastings, interpreted routes and even astronomy, taking advantage of the unpolluted skies of Extremadura.
Gastronomic traditions, paprika, homemade sausages, chestnuts, mushrooms, etc.
But autumn is also magical for its flavor. It is the time of harvesting the famous smoked paprika with designation of origin of La Vera, which is made in Aldeanueva del Camino. Of roasted chestnuts, of stews with mushrooms gathered in the forest and of ham and traditional sausages made from the pigs that are raised in the pastures.
