Birding: bird watching
The Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve is a passageway for migratory birds and an area of great ornithological richness. In different parts of the marsh there are bird observatories, the most prominent of which is the Urdaibai Bird Center.
Urdaibai Bird Centre
Urdaibai Bird Center is a space open to the public, a great bird research center, a privileged observatory of the marsh, is, in short, a great living museum of nature, where birds set the course. An obligatory stop for ornithology lovers and for all those who enjoy the spectacle of nature, it is located in Gautegiz Arteaga, in the very heart of the Reserve and with breathtaking views.
Whale and dolphin watching excursions
The coast of Urdaibai has the good fortune of being one of the closest points to the continental shelf, a place of great depths ideal for large marine mammals to find food. Going out to sea and enjoying this unforgettable experience is a privilege that you can live in Urdaibai. Keep your eyes open so that no cetacean escapes you! Dolphins, pilot whales, sperm whales, sperm whales, dolphins, whales... There are different offers of boat trips to sail in groups through fishing ports and along the coast, or, why not, live a customized nautical experience.
