Our ecotourism commitment:

At Máis que Románico, we have been committed to the sustainability of the region from the very beginning, and we work to preserve the protected areas we visit—the primary focus of our activities. Our approach originated in the Ribeira Sacra and is based on a way of traveling that combines heritage interpretation, personalized service, small groups, and direct benefits for the local community.

1. Heritage Interpretation and Territorial Connection
Our tours take place primarily in the Ribeira Sacra and Serras do Oribio e Courel Biosphere Reserve, where Beatriz and María—whose backgrounds combine history, art, and environmental education—design and lead experiences alongside specialized collaborators such as biologists, mountain guides, and tour guides.
With this approach, we interpret the natural, cultural, ethnographic, and architectural heritage in situ, helping visitors better understand the value of the territory we explore.

2. Reduced Impact on Visits
We work with small groups, with a maximum of 25 people, to reduce pressure on the sites we visit, adapting our activities to the rhythms and pace of the area and its inhabitants.
We also plan routes to avoid sensitive areas, encourage carpooling, and organize parking away from monuments and/or fragile natural spaces.

3. Conservation and responsible behavior
In every activity, we strive to convey the sensitivity and uniqueness of the places we visit, promoting a mindful and respectful experience. On our routes, we ensure we cause the least possible impact on the environment—such as collecting waste generated during the activity and any we find along the way—and we provide an initial briefing on environmental conduct before each outing.
In addition, we contributed to the drafting of the Ribeira Sacra Good Practices Manual and promote respectful observation of the environment, without straying from the trails or disturbing wildlife.

4. Local Development and Social Impact
We sign direct collaboration and management agreements with the Diocese to ensure that every visit benefits the community and is conducted in accordance with the required quality and safety standards—a pioneering model in the Ribeira Sacra.
We prioritize local suppliers from the Ribeira Sacra, collaborate with ecotourism accommodations and rural guesthouses, and recommend local products and/or services such as cheese, sweets, wines, crafts, and farm-to-table restaurants.

Amid enchanting forests and vineyards, we discover the beautiful Romanesque churches of the Miño

A route that takes us through enchanted forests and vineyards to beautiful Romanesque churches.

On this route through the Ribeira Sacra do Miño, we’ll take you along forgotten trails and paths, through forests of oak and chestnut trees, until we reach Nuestra Señora de Pesqueiras, a Romanesque church from the early 13th century featuring fascinating 16th-century murals.

After this visit, we’ll head toward the Belesar Dam to cross the river toward Santa María de Nogueira, one of the jewels of the Ribeira Sacra, with its spectacular murals.

The Winter Way, Belesar, or the banks of the Miño, with their wineries and vineyards, will accompany us on our journey. We’ll end our day in San Salvador de Asma, a 12th-century church that will amaze us with its coffered ceiling and 16th-century altarpiece.
