Guided tour of the vineyard and winery + tasting of 2–3 varieties of wine paired with locally sourced products

The tour begins outside the winery to provide some context about where we are. We’ll explain what the Ribeira Sacra is, its essence, its heritage, its natural and cultural values, the different wine varieties, why traditional wineries have single-sloped roofs, the importance of climate and sunlight for the vineyards, and the issue of land-use changes and the abandonment of vineyards in the area. Outside the winery, the vineyard is also explained.

Then we go inside the winery, where the wine-making processes and the winery’s materials are explained: those used in the past and those used today.

The activity concludes with a tasting: a selection of 6 wines is presented, and 2–3 varieties are tasted. The tasting includes a selection of the best local zero-mile products: cheeses from the Airas Moniz cheese factory (awarded nationally in consecutive years, including 2026), chestnut cream produced in Chantada (Castañas Naiciña), Mariñeiras cookies, and “Da Josefa” tetilla cheese (a national award winner), as well as a selection of other Galician cheeses such as San Simon da Costa, Cebreiro, and Galmesán. The tasting can take place either indoors or outdoors.

Bodega Ribada was founded in 2005 based on a family tradition spanning several generations; it is a small stone winery (single-story) that oversees the vineyard located at its feet in the parish of San Fiz (Chantada). It is less than 5 minutes from the village of Belesar, allowing visitors to combine their visit with Zodiac boat tours on the Miño River, sections of the Winter Way to Santiago, the Roman road, or the rural Romanesque architecture of the surrounding area (12th–13th centuries). It is 7 minutes from the town of Chantada.
