We are committed to the environment and work towards sustainable tourism.
That is why we are taking measures in this direction. More information
At Máis que Románico, we have been committed to the sustainability of the region from the very beginning, and we work to preserve the protected areas we visit—the primary resource for our activities. Our approach originated in the Ribeira Sacra and is based on a way of traveling that combines heritage interpretation, small group sizes, and direct benefits for the local community.
1. Heritage Interpretation and Territorial Connection
Our tours take place primarily in the Ribeira Sacra and Serras do Oribio e Courel Biosphere Reserve, where Beatriz and María—whose backgrounds combine history, art, and environmental education—design and lead experiences alongside specialized collaborators such as biologists, mountain guides, and tour guides.
With this approach, we interpret the natural, cultural, ethnographic, and architectural heritage in situ, helping to better understand the value of the territory we visit.

2. Reduced Impact on Visits
We work with small groups, with a maximum of 25 people, to reduce pressure on the sites we visit.
We also plan routes to avoid sensitive areas, encourage carpooling, and arrange parking away from monuments and fragile natural spaces.
3. Conservation and responsible behavior
In every activity, we strive to convey the sensitivity and uniqueness of the places we visit, promoting a mindful and respectful visit. On our routes, we ensure we have the least possible impact on the environment—such as collecting waste generated during the activity and any we find along the way—and we provide an initial briefing on environmental conduct before each outing.
In addition, we collaborated on the drafting of the Ribeira Sacra Good Practices Manual and promote respectful observation of the environment, without straying from the trails or disturbing wildlife.
4. Local Development and Social Impact
We sign direct collaboration and management agreements with the Diocese to ensure that every visit benefits the community and is conducted in accordance with the required quality and safety standards—a pioneering model in the Ribeira Sacra.
We prioritize local suppliers from the Ribeira Sacra, collaborate with ecotourism accommodations and rural guesthouses, and recommend local products and/or services such as cheese, sweets, wines, crafts, and farm-to-table restaurants.

A magical journey that takes us back to Galicia’s prehistoric past. We’ll begin the tour in the municipality of Sober just before sunset to explore petroglyphs: rocks bearing ancient engravings that transport us back to prehistoric times.
Although petroglyphs can be found throughout Galicia, in the Ribeira Sacra, Sober is one of the areas that holds the most of these prehistoric relics. On this tour of ancient engravings, you’ll join us in visiting unique locations, nestled amidst magical forests and hills, to discover hidden petroglyphs. Hidden and far from any light pollution, we’ll gaze at the sky just as those who carved these rocks once did.
With the help of specialized guides, you’ll understand the significance each rock holds within its surroundings and how its presence has endured to this day. Their symbols and shapes tell us of rituals and customs whose expressions were carved into the open-air rocks. And you’ll learn a little about the stars and planets that this magical place allows us to observe.
