Restricted areas, wildlife in their habitat

Off-road vehicle tours allow you to explore areas that are not accessible on foot and guarantee a unique wildlife watching experience. During these routes, you can see deer, wild boars and large birds of prey such as the Iberian imperial eagle and the black vulture. With specialized guides, this activity allows you to know in depth the ecosystem of Cabañeros.

4x4 route from Casa Palillos or Alcoba de Los Montes: The Spanish Serengeti

Imagine traveling in a 4x4 vehicle through the most iconic landscapes of Cabañeros, where nature unfolds all its majesty. This route, starting at the Casa Palillos Visitor Center or in Alcoba de los Montes, will immerse you in the impressive scenery of the Cabañeros raña, a vast plain reminiscent of the African savannahs, where wildlife moves freely in its natural environment.

From the Puntal del Rostro, a privileged perch for imperial eagles and other large birds of prey, to the raña del Peral, where deer graze peacefully among oaks and cork oaks, each stop is a wildlife spectacle. We will cross the Arroyo de los Pescados, whose banks are the refuge of the Moruno sparrow and other birds that find here their perfect habitat. The adventure takes us to the historic Molino del Brezoso, where we can take a short walk and admire a centennial oak grove in a humid and cool environment. Further on, the Brezoso reservoir offers us a glimpse of the delicate trampales, waterlogged ecosystems inhabited by otters, herons and the mysterious flycatcher, a carnivorous plant that reminds us how incredibly adaptable nature is.

This itinerary will make you feel the soul of Cabañeros, a corner where time seems to have stopped and where nature follows its course without haste, offering us a spectacle that changes with each season.

4x4 Route from Horcajo de los Montes or Retuerta del Bullaque: Entering the Mediterranean Forest

If the raña de Cabañeros is impressive, the Mediterranean forest is its essence. In this route, which starts in Horcajo de los Montes or Retuerta del Bullaque, we dive into the thicket of holm oaks, cork oaks and gall oaks, exploring one of the best representations of the Mediterranean forest in Spain.

Our first stop will be El Estrecho, a magical corner where the intense green of the oaks and gall oaks mixes with the colorful peonies and hawthorns. Here, in the thickets, foxes, badgers and the stealthy wild cat hide. With some luck, we may spot the elusive Iberian lynx, a symbol of the recovery of wildlife in this park. The Mirador de Valdeazores will give us a spectacular view of the raña and the Chorito massif, before heading to Puntal del Rostro, where the imperial eagle finds refuge in the tall cork oaks and holm oaks. Then we will enter the Raña de Santiago, a plain dotted with oaks and cork oaks where deer, wild boars and steppe birds such as the lark and the bustard move freely.

We finish our route in the Viñuela Valley, where we enjoy one of the best preserved oak groves in the park, the song of the nightingale and the majestic flight of the golden eagle reminding us that we are in a first class natural sanctuary.
