Our ecotourism commitment:

Casa Pousadoira is a rural tourism with associated organic vegetable garden, since 1995. We have always been concerned about developing our activity under sustainability parameters. We participate in the recovery of native varieties such as Callobre wheat, which was harvested here near our village, or the vine variety Blanco Lexítimo in Betanzos. We participate in the Rede Galega de Sementes, organizing seed exchange meetings, and promoting the conservation and cultivation of native varieties, such as onion and cabbage from Betanzos, black tomato from Santiago, peppers from Couto, etc. In 2011 we created the Center for Resilience Pousadoira, associated to the rural house, from which we have promoted workshops of activities always related to sustainability and resilience, such as bio-construction, organic farming, medicinal plants, or wool processing. We have always promoted local consumption and collaboration with our neighboring farmers or artisans. Approximately 60 to 70% of the food we consume in the house comes from our organic garden, depending on the time of year. 5% of the value of the trip will be used in projects of the Eco-agrotourism Foundation.

From the sheep to the ball

Two-night stay with experience-workshop with ovella galega wool, of local origin. A few years ago we decided to take advantage of the sheep wool that some neighbors had to throw away because it no longer had a commercial outlet. In this workshop we talked about the importance of native sheep breeds, their role in biomass control and regenerative agriculture initiatives. We will also talk about the importance of taking advantage of local resources, and one as good as wool, its multiple uses (in agriculture, bio-construction or weaving), depending on the type of wool we have. We will have an introductory workshop to the artisanal processing of wool, from the fleece to obtain a thread with which to weave, or a piece of felt.
