Our ecotourism commitment:

At Algaba de Ronda, we view ecotourism as a tool for environmental education, conservation, and connection with the rural environment. Our project aims to bring visitors closer to nature, traditional livestock farming, and biodiversity through an authentic experience that respects the local landscape.

- Environmental education is the foundation of all our activities, promoting knowledge and awareness of biodiversity, native breeds, and rural heritage.

- For over 20 years, we have been developing a project to recover the Dorado Gaditano Iberian pig, a traditional breed that is practically extinct, in collaboration with the University of Córdoba and the Cádiz Provincial Council.

- A portion of the proceeds from visits goes toward supporting this project for the conservation and genetic recovery of native breeds at risk of extinction.

- We prioritize local producers and suppliers, supporting the rural economy and products tied to the local environment.
- The complex’s accommodations have been built according to green building and landscape integration standards.

- We have solar panels, energy-efficient lighting systems, and dual-flush toilets to reduce the project’s environmental impact.

- Organic waste is used as animal feed, and the rest is minimized and managed through recycling and disposal at a recycling center.

- The activities carried out have a low environmental impact and are offset through forest conservation and the management of a carbon-positive farm.

Nature, prehistory, and tradition in the heart of the Mediterranean forest

During this experience in Algaba de Ronda, Gea and her mother María will open the doors to their estate to share with your family a way of life deeply connected to nature, animals, and the history of the region. In the heart of the Mediterranean forest, young and old alike will discover its secrets through an intimate, participatory experience designed for families to enjoy, learn, and connect with nature.

The visit begins at their amazing prehistoric settlement, where, through heritage interpretation, you’ll learn how the first farming communities that inhabited this landscape lived. Gea and her mother bring history to life in a way that’s easy for little ones to understand, sparking imagination and curiosity through explanations and activities tailored to each group.

During the tour of the farm, you’ll spend time with the animals that are part of daily life on the pasture: Merina de Grazalema sheep, Andalusian chickens, and the iconic Dorado Gaditano Iberian pig, a native breed that was on the brink of extinction and whose recovery has been actively promoted for over twenty years.

Through this experience, you’ll discover how extensive livestock farming helps conserve biodiversity, preserve the landscape, and prevent forest fires.

The activity combines nature, environmental education, and direct contact with rural life, offering a simple way to understand how animals, the countryside, and the people who live there are interconnected.

In addition, during the day you’ll enjoy a tasting of local products and can round out the experience with workshops on pottery, cave painting, or beekeeping.
