We are committed to the environment and work towards sustainable tourism.
That is why we are taking measures in this direction. More information
At La Joya del Valle de Ricote, we view tourism as a way to preserve and share the agricultural, cultural, and scenic identity of the Ricote Valley. Our project began with the restoration of old workers’ houses on a family-owned citrus farm, which we transformed into accommodations that blend seamlessly into the surroundings and are connected to the valley’s history, traditional agriculture, and unhurried pace of life.
- We are committed to agritourism and the revival of the Ricote Valley’s traditional citrus-growing culture through sensory experiences, interpretive trails, and workshops centered on citrus fruits.
- We conserve and restore traditional citrus varieties at risk of extinction through grafting and agricultural preservation techniques developed right here on the farm.
- We highlight the valley’s agricultural and cultural history, explaining during our experiences the Moorish legacy, the evolution of traditional crops, and the historical importance of citrus cultivation.
- We cultivate more than 12 hectares of land where traditional varieties, exotic citrus fruits, and unique species linked to haute cuisine and local agricultural heritage grow side by side.
- We collaborate with the Olea Integra Association on initiatives related to the conservation of plant heritage and monumental trees.
- We implement energy-efficiency measures through LED lighting, outdoor solar lights, solar panels, water-saving devices, efficient climate control, and thermally insulated windows and doors.

The Citrus Tour is an invitation to discover the Ricote Valley through one of the crops that best represents its identity: citrus fruits. This pioneering experience is a benchmark for agritourism in the Region of Murcia and the Ricote Valley, bringing visitors closer to the area’s agricultural, scenic, and cultural heritage.
During a guided tour with Llanos Girón—owner of La Joya del Valle de Ricote and a fourth-generation member of the family connected to this estate—you’ll learn how agriculture has helped shape this unique landscape and why citrus farming remains a cornerstone of the valley’s culture, economy, and identity.
During this tour, you’ll discover the history of citrus fruits in the Ricote Valley and the close relationship between the Segura River, the traditional orchards, and the communities that have inhabited this area over the centuries.
In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about unique citrus varieties, many of which are traditional and, in some cases, little-known or at risk of disappearing. You’ll also discover the importance of preserving this valuable agricultural heritage for future generations.
The tour also offers the chance to learn about a form of agriculture based on respect for the land. Through practical examples, you’ll discover the sustainable techniques and practices used on the farm to promote biodiversity, preserve soil fertility, and maintain a balance between agricultural production and landscape conservation.
During the tour, we’ll stop next to trees bearing different varieties of citrus fruits, where you can pick and taste the fruit straight from the tree. This experience will allow you to appreciate the differences in flavor, aroma, and texture of each variety, while discovering interesting facts, traditions, and the secrets of their cultivation.
