223572Filandeiras, the traditional tradeThe spinning of wool (filado, as they say here) is a technique that is disappearing. In Casa Soto, a hotel full of history located in Vegadeo, we have learned from the local women who used to do it and we propose to recover the technique and utensils necessary to develop it through this experience that we want to share with our customers.
In the past, in the rural areas of this reserve, it was common for women, at the end of their chores and lit by a candle, to spin wool to make clothes for the family until sleep overcame them. Washing the wool, scutching, carding, spinning, twisting and socking. These are the steps necessary to make socks.
We offer our customers, a demonstration workshop of these tasks.
