Where landscape diversity is intertwined with cultural emotion.
The Gorbeia Natural Park is a traditional reference point for Basque mountaineering. Its summit, 1,482 meters high, marks the boundary between the territory of Biscay and Alava, and exhibits the highly sought after Gorbeia Cross.
In Gorbeia there are very different landscapes of steep rocks, soft areas of pastures, or beech and oak forests, all over a karstic set with almost 500 catalogued cavities. The Itxina Protected Biotope and the Gujuli waterfall, with a drop of more than 100 meters, are two remarkable landscape elements.
The quality of the landscape and the cultural and emotional significance that the Park has for the Basque people has influenced it to be the center of numerous activities: hiking, mountain, mountain biking and horseback riding, caving, etc..
