A unique tour where history meets nature
Enter the Biosphere Reserve of Urdaibai (Bizkaia) through this tourist-ecological route.
In the centenary oak forest of Artzubi, in Arratzu, Bizkaia, you will discover the surprising management of a forest for a pioneering shipbuilding, you will learn about the ancient wisdom of woodworking, the wealth and legacy of forests through a unique natural heritage, as it is.
In its rural environment, of great beauty, burst a major forge, a fantastic medieval bridge and the monumental Church of St. Thomas. The visit continues with an artistic journey to the Church of San Andrés de Ibarrangelu, (Bizkaia) where wood is transformed into canvas. The vault of the temple is known as the Sistine Chapel of Basque art.
You will be captivated by its refined structure, the subtle imitation of the stone of the temples and the detail of its magnificent paintings, which intermingle religious and profane tradition.
