We are committed to the environment and work towards sustainable tourism.
That is why we are taking measures in this direction. More information
As part of the Basque Government's Network of Environmental Centers in a protected area such as the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve, all our experiences are aimed at changing the way people think and act in order to do so in a more sustainable way. That is why all the experiences we offer have a low environmental impact, and respect the natural and social environment where we operate. Our guides and professionals are trained in sustainability and have a deep knowledge of this beautiful territory, the only Biosphere Reserve in the Basque Country (Urdaibai), we organize a number of experiences throughout the year ranging from the cleaning of certain ecosystems, workshops, games, courses, guided tours, etc.. At the end of each one of them, we try that each participant assumes a commitment in the form of sustainable gestures, classified in five levels of effort of execution, with the aim of reorienting daily habits of citizenship and reduce the emission of greenhouse gases: https://www.ihobe.eus/publicaciones/52-gestos-frente-al-cambio-climatico In addition, at the end of the year we calculate the CO2 emissions generated by each activity to minimize and / or compensate them.

We want you to live an unforgettable day full of emotions on a catamaran of the company Hegaluze from Bermeo that will take us several miles away from the coast, where cetaceans and seabirds feed due to the biodiversity and richness of its waters.
If the sea and weather conditions allow us, we will have the chance to observe an extraordinary spectacle of free cetaceans in their natural habitat, such as common and striped dolphins, pilot whales, fin whales, Cuvier's beaked whales and many other species that transit the Bay of Biscay.
In addition, the adventure will be guided by Ekoetxea Urdaibai and will count, throughout the tour, with the advice of Verballenas, specialists in cetaceans and seabirds, which will allow us to know the physical and biological characteristics of these majestic mammals of the Bay of Biscay, as well as their feeding and migratory habits, dangers and threats.
We will also address a current and vital issue: microplastics. Every year our oceans receive 8 million tons of plastic. Did you know that every year more than 100,000 mammals and 1 million seabirds die from plastic pollution? How do microplastics affect our health? The future of life in the oceans is at stake. Can we do something about it?
The experience is subject to Royal Decree 1727/2007 which specifies the behaviors that must be complied with, avoided or prohibited in order not to harm, disturb or disturb the cetaceans.
The organization reserves the right to cancel or modify these trips due to adverse weather or sea conditions. The user will be entitled to a full refund of the price of the experience and may relocate to another boat.
