We are committed to the environment and work towards sustainable tourism.
That is why we are taking measures in this direction. More information
- The Ecomuséu Ca l'Asturcón, created 25 years ago, aims to strengthen the commitment to the conservation of endangered native breeds, such as the Asturcón pony, the xalda sheep, the bermeya goat, the gochu asturcelta and the pita pinta. In addition, we promote traditional knowledge, such as wool and ceramic handicrafts, linked to the lodging activity. - We are organic producers certified by COPAE, cultivating products such as xaldu lamb and cider apples, guaranteeing the quality and sustainability of our agri-food offer. - We are members of the Asociación de criadores del asturcón (ACPRA) and of the ove-ya xalda (ACOXA). In 2018, we created the group of wool makers “Con Xaldas a lo loco” to demonstrate that xalda wool is not a waste product and to give it back the value it deserves in our path towards the revaluation of this endangered breed. - The 5% of the value of the trip will be used in projects of the Ecoagroturismo Foundation. Since 2003, we have been the headquarters of the European Center for Ecoagrotourism (ECEAT-Spain), represented by the Ecoagrotourism Foundation, for the certification of sustainable tourism Ceres Ecotur. - We carry out forest plantations of native species in our facilities and in rustic farms in the surroundings, managed through extensive cattle raising with native breeds. These practices contribute to the regeneration and conservation of the traditional Asturian landscape.

An experience-workshop where we will approach the process of elaboration of wool from the fleeces of our own herd of oveyas xaldas, the native breed that contributed with its presence in the area just a century ago in the management of our landscape and the cultural and ethnographic heritage of our territory. During the weekend we will talk about the autochthonous breeds in danger of extinction, their role in the management of our landscape, the types of wool and their properties. We will go through its history, disuse, the difficulties of the shepherd and the current destiny of the wool. With this experience of 3 days / 2 nights staying in the village house of La Quintana de la Foncalada – Ecomuséu Ca l’Asturcón in Argüeru, experienceás traditional artisan knowledge and the liveliness of the wool from the fleece to the creation of small works in felt. - Day 1 Arrival at La Quintana de la Foncalada – Ecomuséu Ca l’Asturcón in Argüeru (Villaviciosa), near the Rí RNP;a de Villaviciosa, where you will be welcomed with a small homemade, local and ecological snack that will comfort you and make you take land. - Day 2 In the farm of the rural lodging itself, we will discover in the morning the characteristics of the autochthonous varieties in danger of extinction: asturcones, bermeyas goats, gochu asturcelta, pitas pintas and in particular the xalda sheep and the peculiarity of the wool of this autochthonous breed and different applications through natural and traditional processes such as felting. In the afternoon we will have a wool workshop to learn and discover the processes of wool craftsmanship, from the sheep to the workshop, and we will feel the liveliness of this material. We will learn how to wash, scutch and card wool with manual carding. Finally, we will learn the technique of wet felting and we will create a small piece. They say that working with wool has something more magical, organic and special; you will see how the fiber of the fabric is gradually changing between your hands, taking body, taking shape, transforming and changing before our eyes, as if it were a living being. - Day 3 Departure from the lodge after breakfast.
