Casa Gerbe is located in the Sobrarbe Pyrenees Geopark, we offer accommodation and an activity, with the commitment to be respectful with the nature that surrounds us, trying to explain to our customers how important it is to observe and know to respect.
All this we apply with some actions such as:
- We are partners and collaborate with the Foundation for the conservation of the Bearded Vulture (FCQ), SEO Birdlife, Iberaves, Birding Aragon,
- The ornithological, geological and botanical route is indicated with recycled materials, the Hide is made of wood, the food we feed the birds is local.
- Our house is officially registered with the calculation of the carbon footprint and of course, its reduction plan, in which we have advanced eliminating 90 tons of CO2 per year for hot water and heating, we have insulated doors, windows, roof and exterior walls.
- The products we offer are prioritized to be organic and local, we also have an organic garden.
- We promote the recovery of biodiversity in the surroundings of the Hide, making small annual actions, giving priority to native plant species, removing pines of repopulation and in turn these pines, which are not native to the area.In turn, these pines are used to reduce erosion on the slopes and increase the protection areas for wildlife, giving our customers the opportunity to take data to check the evolution.

Observing to learn, understand and respect
In our experience you will be able to see the birds that visit us without disturbing them, observing how they feed and how they interact when several species coincide.
We will ask you to try to write down the number of species you have been able to see, in order to keep track of them.
You can walk along the ornithological, geological and botanical trail, self-guided with informative signs or hire the services of a professional guide (recommended). We include a walk through an area where we try to recover biodiversity and native habitat. We will ask you to fill in a form so that you can write down what you see and help us to control the evolution of this area.
This activity includes 2 nights lodging and breakfast in a rural hotel.

Day 1 program
- Arrival and reception at Casa Gerbe
We will explain where we are and what you should take into account to enjoy the environment, as well as what we do to make your stay as sustainable as possible.
Day 2 program
- Breakfast
With local and nearby products, adapting our schedule to the time of the year or the client's preference.
- Self-guided ornithological, geological and botanical route.
We will give you the necessary explanations to make the route that starts at Casa Gerbe and that takes advantage of old roads, through the village and the surrounding area. You will be able to consult the informative signs that we have placed in different points of the path.
You can do this trail on your own, or you can hire the services of a professional guide, who will make it an unforgettable experience.
Distance: 4 km Climb: 10 m.
Finish the day with our recommendations on the route of picturesque villages, castles, museums and the nature that surrounds us.
Day 3 program
- Breakfast
- Visit to the Hide - Bird Observatory
After getting up a little earlier and having breakfast, we will visit the hide. On the way down we will note what nature shows us (insects, flowers, traces, footprints, etc.).
A hide where you can see the birds that visit us, you can see how they feed, how they interact when different species coincide and their behaviors. We will leave you a card so you can write down the species you see.
Duration: between 2 - 5 h.
When you leave we will ask you to come home to discuss the experience and have a drink.
End of our services at 14 h.
