Our Commitment to Ecotourism in Georuta
In Pirineo Activo we believe in a responsible tourism that protects and values the environment that welcomes us. For this reason, we adopt the following commitment to ecotourism in our outings in the Georutas in Sobrarbe:
1. Conservation of the natural and geological environment.
We are committed to respect and protect the geological heritage of the environment, avoiding leaving the marked trails and encouraging a careful observation without altering the rock formations or extracting samples.
2. Environmental education and awareness
During the route, we promote the knowledge of the geological processes that have formed the Pyrenees, awakening in the participants a greater awareness of the importance of preserving this valuable natural legacy.
3. Respect for traditional architecture
We value the link between landscape and local culture, explaining how communities have sustainably used geological resources in their architecture and daily life.
4. Minimizing human impact
We promote respectful behavior with the fauna and flora of the environment, taking our waste back, avoiding the use of single-use plastics and minimizing our ecological footprint.

Discovering the Geoparks of the Sobrarbe-Pyrenees UNESCO World Geopark is much more than just walking along paths: it is reading the pages of the planet written in rock, it is understanding how this territory was born, and it is walking with the certainty that the landscape is something alive, evolving, talking and that we can listen to it if we walk carefully.
-Living geology accessible to all
Georutas:
- SORROSAL: 3 KEYS TO UNDERSTAND THE PYRENEES.
- FOVANOS VIEWPOINTS: A WINDOW TO THE EOCENE TREPIDANTE

- THE CINCA TERRACES: RIVERS IN MOVEMENT
Each georoute is a guided excursion through the geological history of the Pyrenees:
- We will observe folds, faults, strata, fossils and ancient seabeds, all visible to the naked eye.
- We will learn how the collision of tectonic plates raised these mountains, and how ice, rivers and time have sculpted the landscape.
- We will discover how that same rock has been used by humans: in architecture, roads, shelters, pastures...
- Nature, culture and science, intertwined
Georoutes allow a comprehensive approach to the territory:
- Flora adapted to the type of substrate, altitude and orientation: a vegetal landscape that also tells a story.
- Fauna that inhabits these formations, from rupicolous birds to small reptiles or mammals hidden in the rocks.
- Villages, hermitages, huts and paths that show us how human beings have lived with this geology and have known how to interpret it for centuries.
