Our ecotourism commitment:

Villanatura Active Tourism Center - Villanueva del Arzobispo
Villanatura is firmly committed to ecotourism as a model for enjoying the natural and cultural heritage in a respectful, educational and transforming way. Our hiking trails are developed with sustainability criteria, actively contributing to the conservation of the environment and local development.

1. Link with the protected area and heritage interpretation
The activity takes place in the Natural Park of the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas, the largest protected area in Spain. Through local guides trained in environmental interpretation, participants will learn about unique ecosystems such as high mountain pine forests, river valleys and Mediterranean-continental transition zones. Emblematic species such as deer, mountain goats, golden eagles and Spanish firs are highlighted, as well as ethnographic elements such as old mills, traditional orchards and historic trails. Environmental interpretation turns the route into an educational and emotional experience.

Minimization of negative impacts
All our routes follow official trails authorized by the park, respecting areas of special ecological sensitivity. They are done in small groups to reduce pressure on the natural environment, and we apply good practices such as "leave no trace", waste collection and respect for fauna and flora. We promote the shared use of transportation to reach the starting point of the route, thus reducing the associated carbon emissions.

3. De-seasonalization and de-seasonalization
Hiking with Villanatura is offered throughout the year, with special attention to the months with the least amount of tourists (autumn, winter and spring), when the park shows its biodiversity in a more diverse and peaceful way. In addition, alternative routes, less known and less frequented, are proposed, which allow for a more intimate experience of the environment and distribute the tourist flow away from the most saturated points, thus favoring conservation.

4. Supporting local development and biodiversity conservation
We work exclusively with professionals from Villanueva del Arzobispo and the immediate surroundings, contributing to the local economy. We collaborate with organic producers, rural lodgings and artisans, promoting tourism that leaves value in the territory. Part of the profits from the activity are used to support conservation and environmental education projects in the region, such as participatory reforestations, wildlife monitoring or school campaigns.
